Football in Palestine and Israel

Football is not the thing you think of when discussing the Israel-Palestine issue. Today though a mail ended up in my mailbox which involves both.
The Palestine Solidarity Campaign (UK) calls for a boycott of the Israeli football team because the state of Israel does not comply with International Law and relevant United Nations resolutions to end Israeli occupation. If you want sign this call you click here. This petition will be brought to the attention of the FA, UEFA and FIFA ahead of the England - Israel Euro qualifier on 8th September 2007.

What's happening in Gaza

Since a few days I'm thinking about writing something about the situation in Gaza. But it's not easy. How to explain the root of the problem is the Israeli occupation which continues for so long already? Today I finally read an article that expresses the feeling I had since a few days. I recommend everybody to use 10 minutes of his precious time to read this article of Israeli Ilan Pappé. Take notice of his call for a BDS-campaign (Boycott - Disinvestment - Sanctions) against Israel and the only way out of this conflict, One State with equal rights to all of its citizens.

Wat gebeurt er in Gaza?

Al enkele dagen wil ik heel graag iets posten ivm de situatie in Gaza. Maar 't is niet gemakkelijk. Hoe duidelijk maken dat de oorzaak van dit alles bij de jarenlange bezetting door Israël ligt? Vandaag stootte ik dan eindelijk op een artikel dat verwoord waar ik al enkele dagen over zat te tobben. Natuurlijk in het Engels. Toch raad ik iedereen aan om 10 minuten de tijd te nemen en dit artikel van de Israëlier Ilan Pappé te lezen. Let ook op zijn oproep ter ondersteuning van de BDS-campagne (Boycott - Desinvestment - Sanctions) tegen Israël en de enige uitweg uit de dit conflict, Eén Staat met gelijke rechten voor al zijn inwoners.

Wereldfeest in Leuven: intal-Leuven was er bij

Op zaterdag 2 juni namen we met intal-Leuven deel aan het 19-de Leuvense Wereldfeest. Met een 10-tal vrijwilligers vroegen we de voorbijgangers om de strijd van de Filippijnse inheemse bevolking, tegen de mijnbouwfirma's die hun hele leefomgeving naar de verdoemenis helpen, te steunen. Fotoverslag
